The airline spec

Airline blankets are not regular blankets. The fabric must pass FAR 25.853 (US FAA flammability) or BS 5852 (UK/EU) — we test every batch. The fabric must be light (every gram on a plane costs fuel). And the blanket must fold into a thin amenity pouch alongside socks and an eye mask.

For economy single-use amenity we typically run 180–200 GSM thin polar fleece, recycled rPET in GRS chain-of-custody where the carrier has a sustainability commitment. For business and first class we run 220–280 GSM with a woven jacquard border, sometimes a satin-band edge.

Pouch packaging

We produce the matching amenity pouch — usually drawstring or zippered — in the same recycled-content fabric or a coated cotton-canvas. Pouch carries the carrier logo (embroidered or screen-printed) and can host the blanket plus eye mask, socks, ear plugs.

Production volumes

Typical airline blanket programs run between 5,000 and 250,000 pieces per order. Lead time scales accordingly — a 50,000-piece order with GRS-certified recycled fabric runs 60–80 days from sample approval. We coordinate ocean freight directly with the carrier's logistics partner.

FAQ

Do airline blankets need flammability certification? +
Yes — passenger blankets in many jurisdictions must pass FAR 25.853 (US) or BS 5852 (UK/EU) flammability. We can supply blankets passing either standard with third-party test reports per shipment.
What GSM is right for premium-cabin airline blankets? +
Business class typically 220–280 GSM. Economy single-use amenity is 180–200 GSM. First class often runs 280–320 GSM with woven jacquard borders.
Can you do GRS recycled-PET fleece? +
Yes. Our rPET fleece is sourced from a GRS chain-of-custody-certified mill in Ningbo. We provide GRS Transaction Certificates per shipment for the airline's compliance team.
