Start with the use case
Define where the blanket will be used, how it will be carried and cleaned, and which characteristics matter most to the end user. A picnic blanket can use a face layer with a separate backing, an integrated coated fabric, or another construction proposed against the brief. Final suitability depends on the complete construction and the results of agreed sample checks.
Build options to compare
- Face fabric: Ask which polar fleece, coral fleece, sherpa or woven options are available. Compare composition, weight, hand feel, pilling, color and cleaning requirements on labeled samples.
- Backing construction: PEVA, PU, TPU and other coated or laminated options can differ by formulation, thickness, bonding method and care requirements. Review the exact construction and test results rather than selecting by material name alone. See the backing construction comparison.

Specification and sample verification
- State finished dimensions, tolerances, material identification, target weight or thickness, and the required edge and bonding construction.
- Define artwork placement, color references, label content, attachment points, fold method, packed dimensions and packaging.
- Agree how moisture exposure, adhesion, odor, colorfastness, cleaning, dimensional stability and attachment strength will be checked on the sample.
- Keep the approved sample, artwork and test criteria linked to the final purchase specification.
RFQ guidance
Include intended use, dimensions, fabric preferences, backing requirements, artwork files, branding method, accessories, packaging, quantity by design, destination, testing needs and requested delivery window. Ask for sampling charges, tooling, unit pricing, trade terms, production timing and shipping assumptions to be stated in the written quote; these details are project-specific.
